Welcome to Thorne Ecological Institute’s online library! This is an exciting blend of natural science, technology, and literacy for partnering schools, TNSS families, and folks who are discovering the wonderful programming that we have been offering for more than 50 years! Our library site is divided into three sections:
* The library, where you will find RealeBooks to read, download, and print. These ebooks are written by our students with an occasional contribution by our staff and instructors!
* The blog, where you will find our ongoing discussion of RealeWriter, this wonderful software that has allowed us this dynamic forum, as well as environmental literacy, ways to engage your family in natural wonders, and updates of what we are observing at both Sombrero Marsh in Boulder and Waterton Canyon in Littleton.
* The image gallery, where you’ll find a growing collection of high quality images that you may freely incorporate into your RealeBooks.
To access the image gallery or discussion forums, you must have an account and be signed in. Accounts on our site are free. Just click the “Join Now” link in the top left of the navigation bar. Your registration will be verified by e-mail, and then you will be able to access the image gallery and discussion forum sections of our site.
Oh Reale?
This wonderful forum for sharing the work of Thorne’s students is by an incredible group of folks who are committed to a literate world one child at a time. Thorne Ecological Institute shares this mission because we cannot have informed citizenship without basic literacy.
Thorne is pleased to host a library of student-authored ebooks. What does that mean? It means this: each ebook in our library, with few exceptions, are written by students involved in our programs. What does that mean? It means that the photos chosen, the text paired with each photo, the sequence in which the story is told, and the voice that it is told with is completely theirs. The ebooks included in our library are about what our students care about and conclusions that they have drawn. Amazing.
Do yourself a favor and peruse the incredible potential of RealeWriter, the software in which the ebooks in our library were created, then take the next step and download the software. Explore the world around you, take along a digital camera, and write about it! Or, download an ebook from our library and read with your grown-up (or child) every day and discover the value of spending time with a book! To download the software, visit RealeBooks.com.
